C ++ Developer

- Prodim International, Helmond, The Netherlands
Prodim International BV manufactures self-developed and patented (dimensional) measuring devices and software for data management. Its most well-known product is the Proliner: a portable digital measuring tool that can be used to measure 2D or 3D objects such as doors, stairs, kitchens, windshields, boat decks, etc. Measurements can be edited and verified on the Proliner using the integrated touch screen, before being exported either for use by production (CNC) machines or for further processing in CAD programs.
Most of our software development is currently focused on our Windows desktop software, called Prodim Factory, which allows users to do project management, edit/check measurement data, and design end–products by merging CAD data with photogrammetry.
We aim to provide complete solutions that help our customers to run their business competitively in a digitizing world. To achieve this, we continuously improve our industry software particularly focusing on:
- solving technical complexities
- providing flexibility where needed
- providing an easy-to-use interface
- designing features to “just work”
- allowing users to do what they are good at
Besides the Proliner and Factory software, we also develop supporting tools, such as mobile apps and web API and back-ends to make devices work together.
Prodim offers an informal working environment with a flat hierarchy, where skill, creativity, enthusiasm and quality work are appreciated and rewarded. As a software engineer, you’ll design, develop and maintain technically complex cross-platform software libraries and user-friendly applications. You’ll work in a small team of skilled developers and collaborate directly with colleagues from other departments as the work requires. You’ll be entrusted with freedom and responsibility. You’ll be able to strengthen and broaden your programming/engineering skills by working with talented, experienced developers on all facets of software development.
We develop most of our software in C++, using Qt for GUI development, targeting Windows desktop and Linux (on the Proliner measuring device). We build on Windows using Microsoft Visual Studio. On Linux we use CMake, (cross-)compiling with g++. We use Axosoft as project management and bug tracking tool to help assure all software development tasks are reasonably spec-ed, designed and peer-reviewed. Further, we use:
- Test for automated testing,
- Subversion/TortoiseSVN for source code management,
- PHP/MySQL for server backend code,
- Java for Android apps
- bash/VBScript/Python for scripting build, deployment, etc.
We are looking for an experienced C++ developer capable of shaping and strengthening our software products, who can cooperate effectively with other developers and product owners to work as a team towards a common goal. We expect you to be creative, pragmatic, self-sufficient, articulate and responsible for the end-product.
You need to have:
- Bachelor degree or higher
- 3+ years experience with C++
- Good software design skills
- Good command of the English language
It’s good to have:
- experience with Qt, Windows, Linux, GUI programming
- knowledge of geometry/CAD/CAM (2D and 3D)
